The Future of Open Source

I'm curious what your thoughts are with the idea of open source being part of our shared infrastructure as a society that therefore the state should help support. The MITRE corporation, which you might not be aware of MITRE, they do a lot of security. They're funded 100% by the government. I think potentially more grants or more ways of funding existing projects would be nice. But trying to have them take over, think about the post office. Do you want open source run like the post office? You just can't throw money in a problem because often the money will get creatively reallocated to other things.

Richard and Eriol are joined by Erik Benner, who works for Mythics, a large public sector IT company specializing in cloud migration and traditional legacy applications.
