In 1998, I saw Kiphelan give a talk about LIGO, the gravitational wave detector. And in the abstract, they report a strain sensitivity of one part in 10 to the 22. Like, this is just, I mean, his mind boggling that they were able to do it. So incredibly seriously, my judgment would certainly have been, this is a bad idea. But obviously I was completely and utterly wrong.
