The real present doctrine is founded on certain, what we might call onto epistemological presuppositions. This bread is this apparent bread is not actually bread, but it's the body of Christ. The apparent wine is not actually wine, it's the blood of Christ. And you have to believe contrary to your senses, contrary to your experience that this is one way, but it is something else.
