How to Stop a Galaxies From Sorming Stars
Tidal effect is similar to the tides on earth, caused mostly by the moon and a little bit by the sun. You can get a tidal effect that rips the gas out of that galaxy, again, stopping it forming stars in the system that's affected. We even called these things jellyfish galaxies, amazing ause they'r having that gas stripped away by this interaction with the plasma in their cluster. On a longer time scale, that takes longer, you know, several billion years then to start to effect the star formation. But it will eventually, that will eventually lead to the death of the galaxy.
