In some cases, recycling could actually be bad for the planet. Plastic is one of those materials where the benefits are outweighed by the costs. I think it became more of a social question than an economic question. The idea was that we produced too much garbage. It's not sustainable... Recycling is a way of entering into a more circular economy.
