The Assassination of John F. Kennedy
In 1981, John Hinckley Jr. attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in Washington DC. He wrote a letter to Jody Foster two hours before the assassination saying that he'd abandon the idea of getting Reagan in a second if he could only win your heart and live out the rest of my life with you. This was the most high-profile case of emotional blackmail in contemporary American history. All six bullets missed the President, but devastation was unleashed on those around him. The first bullet struck press secretary James Brady in the head just above his left eye,. The bullet then traveled underneath his brain, shattering his brain cavity in the process.
