Intermittent fasting can help the gut in a couple of different ways. For certain people with dysbiosis, which again is the imbalance of bacteria where were microbes in the gut or microbial overgrowth, fasting can be potentially a really powerful tool for helping with some of that. And we have at least one study looking at intermittent fasting during Ramadan that found that overall gut back or microbial diversity was increased,. But the changes were not permanent when these people returns back to baseline when the intermittent fasting stopped.
