The Cost of Network Bandwidth
Moore's law has been going on for something like 100 years now, and compute continues to get faster all the time. But they have tricked an entire generation of businesses into believing that network bandwidth is this precious, very finite thing. Everything is measured in a per gigabyte dimension. So CloudFlare, we've charged for egress because again, we think that over time bandwidth prices go to zero. It just makes sense for ISPs, but maybe there's some pressure from more forward leaning providers who are showing how egress fees are out of control.
