The Sparkler Is Like a Slow Motion Fire Cracker
A sparkler is sort of like a slow motion fire cracker. It's black powder and doing a lot of the work releasing energy. To slow down, you do mix it with other things that don't explode exactly. You modify this mixture of like potassium nitrate and sulphur and charcoal so that you get a slower explosion. By sometimes adding more sulphur or more charcoal, reduces how fast the oxygen is released. And then for the sparkler, you actually make it with sugar in there.
