The justices refused to block thomas jefferson high school's year old policy, which a community group challenged as discriminating against asian american applicants. The case tests what steps schools and universities can take to insure racial diversity in their class rooms. A federal judge had blocked the policy for the current admission cycle, but a federal appeals court put that ruling on hold by a two to one vote.
