The most important technique in negotiating is active listening, not just passively taking down the word for word transcript that they're saying. We often mistake that communication is the responsibility of only the sender when really the listener is really a key part of this. By being open and ready to listen, I find body positioning almost puts me in active listening mode where you sort of lean in to where the patient is.
