Caesar Chavez and the Filipino Union Strike
In 1965, Filipino farm workers in the Delano area walked out on strike against wine and table-grade growers. Caesar Chavez's mostly Latino union was asked to join their picket lines. Helen is listening to this debate and she asks, well, are we a union or not? And then joined the strike. She would get up well before Don and she would do the wash and she would make the breakfast and the lunches for the kids. Over 25 years alone, over $20 million disappeared from her bank account.
