The Creation of Patriarchy

The book focuses on five American historians in the second half of the 20th century. Richard Hofstater, Daniel Borsden, John Hope Franklin, Howard Zinn and Gerda Lerner all write what I call popular national histories. There's also a shared generational sensibility between those five historians who were born from 1914 to 1922. They share quite a few experiences especially coming of age during World War II and the Cold War.
