How to Reconstitute Chaos
Dante's Inferno is a story about a journey into the structure of evil. It was an attempt to produce a hierarchy of evil, and Dante put the betrayers right at the bottom in the worst part of hell. I don't think there is anything that disturbs people more than being betrayed because it destroys your fundamental trust in humanity. And so it's not that easy to reconstitute yourself after encountering something that shatters your presuppositions. They can be shattered if you have a relationship with someone. Let's say it's an intimate relationship and you trust them. You have a particular model of them. And use that model as a predicate for a lot of your perceptions and actions
