It doesn't really make sense that, like, you would have this climactic moment without your main characters. I don't know why he wrote it that way. And i just really wish it had been at the end of desolation of smaug, instead of the beginning of battle of five armies. That moment of thorein talkin, he lug, to me, is the whole point of the habit films boiled into one inneraction between Thorin and laketown.
