The Role of Roundness and Spikyness in Writing Systems

The study was carried out in 25 languages from nine language families and ten writing systems. Participants were asked to match two shapes, a flower and the star, with which shape do you connect this? And we saw a correct answer only if it matched both buba to round and kiki to star shape. We also wanted to see whether people rely on the roundness or spikiness of the letters that are used in the given writing systems. And we actually found that this is not the case. People don't rely on this roundness orSpikiness reading of written forms to judge buba and kiki forms.
