Lowis Is Not Going After Francis Bacon as the Man Who Made All These Great Scientific Discoveries

Bacon's theories are at the basis of the modern scientific method. But he wasn't, like, a great discoverer of any law of planetary motion or law of gravity himself. Bacon thought that this was a ridiculous idea that would never catch on. And so bacon, a man of genius who had maybe some unhealthy notions about the purpose of what knowledge ought to serve.
