With offices 50% empty, there is less demand for the restaurants in those downtown areas. With prices going up, a typical family takes a long time to adjust their spending habits. Right now, the consumer credit cycle is very similar to what it was in 2007. Those restaurants are eventually going to start closing down and that is also going to start moving the unemployment data.
