The Secret History of the Mongols
The mongols did not believe in a pantheon of gods or goddesses. To talk about death alloud, or even acknowledged its existence was seen as profanity. They believed that every human mind was attached to mother earth by a spiritual umbilical chord. The mongolian word for shaman is bo which apparently is part of a cluster of words with loathsome connotations,. An opportunistic person without scruples. It is also the general term for lice, fleas and bed bugs.
