Is the West Causing the War by Expanding Nato?
In a purely historical sense, did the west cause the war by expanding nato? And as a separate question, does this make the west blameworthy? I found cuban missile crisis analogies helpful here. Is it wrong for the west to support ukraine in its efforts not to become bellarus too? In terms of line in the sand and vague rules of national diplomacy that prevent nuclear war? I think not really. It's a risk, but at least it was taken in the defence of real principles - which is better than most of the imprudent things we do.
