Beverage industry has actively lobbied against any legislative efforts to increase recycling rates. 27% of plastic bottles are recycled, but you have the whole beverage industry that has their own targets for using material. And so now you have not just one, but two industries that are competing for this one product. Is it more socially responsible to get a plastic bottle of water and then be sure that it's recycled, or to drink a lacro in, an aluminum can which is also going to be recycle?
