Emergency Politics

There's an argument that we've discussed on this podcast quite a lot before, that if you move from a nation state which is legitimated by some kind of representative mechanism to a european union. The previous vertical relationship of the nation state has been eroded away and now there are competing modes of legitimation for institutions. Is it just going to be these sorts of continual emergencies as states try to legitimize themselves? I meani, i'll come back here in terms of this competing emergency politics.
