FTP officials apparently believe they can raise their political profile by siding with the automotive industry. Opponents of the e-fuells exemption rightly point out that there are a waste of renewable electricity since a good deal of it would be lost in the conversion to e- fuells. The EU has been struggling to come up with assurances that would assuage the FTP, but it is constrained by a tight timeline ahead of EU elections next year.
