There's always been misinformation but why has it become to stick with your infectious disease analogy a pandemic yeah i think it partly has to do with how misinformation spreads. There are radical new ways in which information can be amplified and we've talked a little about the spread but it's also about the mode of delivery so if you think about other social media channels like WhatsApp, people are more likely to think that information is credible because it comes from people they know. If Hitler had access to social media would that have made his campaign even more efficient it's kind of scary to think about right?
