Is Home Birth a Better Choice for Black Mothers?
Black mothers are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy related causes than white women. There are very few midwives in dulas who cater to black communities like its primarily white women who can give birth at home with a midwife and oradula. So even though home birth is framed as an empowering choice for all women, that is not usually the case for women of color.
