Punitive policies have a strong effect on whether pregnant folks seek prenatal care and that we know has an effect on child health. Even in some states where weed is legal, they have laws on the books that equate using it during pregnancy with child abuse. It just feels like it is hard enough to have a living thing inside of your body growing and changing. And then you throw in all these mysteries, the sort of like policy landscape we've built up around weed. Janetria: Why do we think it makes sense to suddenly consider a pregnant person's body a publicly owned and publicly regulated piece of property?
