The Importance of Good Faith Refutation
Good faith, disagreement and refutation is considered a cultural virtue. It's how our society has operated for a very long time against the water we're swimming in so we don't necessarily think about it that much. That's why we have freedom of speech is so that we can actually call out each other's bullshit. We know in the back of our heads, we're running a protocol which is like, I need to win this argument for my followers not to get to the truth. A big part of the problem with social media is that we don't have rewards for seeking the truth.
