Latin America, a Neo-Colony of the United States
The struggle against colonialism and imperialism continues under neo-colonialism and neo-imperialism right to our present day. The United States plays a special role because the United States as itself a former colony came late to the game of colonialism. President James Monroe enunciated the Monroe Doctrine back in early in the 19th century. And for the last 200 years, the whole world has dealt with Latin America as a de facto neo-colonial area for the United States.
