The Power of Repetition
One of the exercises that I always find fascinating in editing is the idea of repetition and how to deal with it. The challenge was how do you make band practice feel like a war movie, right? And so in the case of Nelly's first sound take, howDo you make this minutia, these little sound things, how, a creek, how do we make that feel like life and death? So in that way, the challenges were similar. We would always refer to this as the whiplash scene.
