The Effective Edge of the Universe Is 13 Billion Years Ago
The edge of the universe is 13 billion light years away. This means that things expanding away from us at light speed would presumably have been doing so since the universe formed 13 billion years ago. But this just scales up in space to light speed and the galaxies on the other end of our measuring tape aren't doing any pulling. They aren't moving locally at any high speed, but they are moving away from us faster than light. We only see them now because the light from them reaching us left back when they were closer and moving away slower.
