The Importance of Introspection Illusions in Conflict Resolution
If you think you see the world accurately and i don't, what are you to conclude? The simplest explanation is that i can't be trusted. There's no point trying to understand me or reason with me or negotiate with me because i must be either stupid or evil. You can see how these biases might play out in the context, not just of interpersonal conflict, but geo political conflict. And if we believe that individuals are biased, that their mental processes are biased, then we don't believe that it makes sense to try reason with them.
