The Importance of Choice Blindness

Inattentional blindness is when you focus on a task and don't notice anything in the background. So there were those famous cases where a big gorilla walks across the screen and you don't even notice it because you've been told to watch the people playing basketball. A very large proportion missed this. And I've seen this version on a monster-sized screen at conferences and when there's practically a king Kong walking in the background, but still people miss this. But we felt that one of the aspects in magic that is of really big interest is when they control the choice. This was the aspect we wanted to incorporate in our experiments.
