After the war, the british essentially were negged on their promise. Some of the arabs who participated in the revolt were looking forward to a robust, self determined nation. They found themselves sorely disappointed. After the paris peace conference, much of the middle east was left unresolved. In 19 21, britain assigned colonial secretary winston churchill with the task of sorting out the post war middle eastern policy. And over the course of the next year or two, they essentially settle the modern Middle East.
