The Hard Problem of Consciousness

We need a scientific theory that explains the neural correlates of consciousness. The idea of trying to understand how conscious experiences could somehow be rooted up by physical systems and their activity was posed in Leibniz's monodology 300 years ago. We call it the hard problem of consciousness, but it's not a new problem. It has been a mystery. Thomas Hoechtly said that we have as much insight into it as when Aladdin rubbed his lamp and out came a genie.
