Hegemonic science wants to exclude other ways of knowing because they want to keep themselves in the positions of scientists. Hegemonic science steals words like love thy neighbor and faith, transforms what they mean by making them sound anodyne. The new age stuff is really going to stick out: I'm spiritual, but not religious. Makes me feel really good. They use scientific and scientific language where science has dominance to creep in under science. It looks like it's scientism when it's post-modern domain manipulations of marketing,. When it's very difficult to tell what one thing isn't back to faith, it latches onto valuable traits that faith strengthens.
