Ep. 93 Is the Classical God a Psychopath?

The Reluctant Theologian Podcast

CHAPTER

Is There a Godo Classical Theism?

The godo classical theism is grandiose in that he only cares about himself. In contemporary psychological literature, there are certain people who consistently fail to satisfy two of the three conditions of ympathy and yet know that others have certain emotions because they are causing those people to have them. The impassable god lacks sympathy and compassion, directly causes others to suffer emotionally, and reveals himself in deceptive ways in order to draw humans closer to him. That's a psychopath, plain and simple. And so for this reason, we should reject the god of classical theism and instead affirm a god who actually has sympathy and compassion like the bible describes.
