Hyaluronic Acid and Osteoarthritis Management

There are a lot of trials that show benefit, but in meta-analyses where they've looked at industry sponsorship of trials and limited analyses to studies with low risk of bias, the efficacy is small. So it's not a great answer as to whether or not one should use hyaluronic acid. The JAMA trial that we were just mentioning, they did select individuals based on presence of effusion or cinnovitis and ultrasound. They didn't find any long-term benefit, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you might, that they might be more likely to have short-term benefit.
