The Complexity of Dialectology

I like that it starts with a simple observation. And yet the complexity grows from there. It reminds me of work in dialectology where for years and years, things called isoglosses were drawn on maps. So this is kind of parallel to that idea that you began with that, well, that PhD idea I had I bring with me, right? That's right. But how do you measure an idea? We take a class on general relativity and we learn about the idea of general relativity and it's very complicated and so on.
