The Importance of Iris for Energy Tracking

With Iris you're able to see much more detail than has previously been possible, which means energy can be tracked flowing through very small features. And for the first time we have seen that there is evidence that also in these very tiny flares there are very high energy particles. So our Sun is an amazing particle accelerator as well. Power has slightly glossed over the ease with which Iris can measure these tiny events that help heat the atmosphere. You actually need a mathematical simulation to decipher the messages carried in the sunlight. It's complicated, but we now finally have both the computing power and instrumentation to follow the ways that energy flows through the atmosphere.
