Introduction
The illusion at the time was that communism would go away, but we would still live in the same state. Very few people paid very close attent to ethnic separatism and balticit of independence. And of course, i repeat, very few people understood the implications of the russian drive for sovereignty. People inside the soviet union ary in moscow continued to shake thinks in expectation that in one more push and tthe rotten communist system would fall apart. But they never, never expected that with the system the state itself would fall together.
