The Wagner Group's Role in Sudan
The Wagner group has been in Sudan since before Bashir was deposed. We don't have any hard reporting to suggest that they're playing a more operational role, says John Defterios. For sure the United States is concerned that Russia could be trying to establish a stronger foothold in the country,. But I don't think that those concerns are what lie at the heart of US interest and involvement in Sudan right now.
