The Soviets' Close Call in the 1980s
In 1983, the Soviet Union received an alert that the US had launched a nuclear attack in the form of five nuclear warheads. The Soviets also had a close call just a few years later. It was a bug in the early warning detection software that the USSR was using in the early 80s. There are several cases of software bugs leading to actual deaths from radiation therapy machines.
