Baptists opposed governments imposing practices of infant baptism. John Owen called the doctrine of Christian liberty the second principle of the Reformation. Calvin said you can't understand justification by faith unless you understand Christian liberty. Samuel Bolton said that Christ has given us two things: Christian faith and Christian liberty.
