The Cultivation of Taste
Mark O'Mara: It's unclear to me whether Schiller would be yelling at kids to get off of his doorstep and his lawn. So I was looking for when does he introduce how art, actually the mechanism of how art will transform. And this is the cultivation of taste. This is not the artistic sense that Marcus was referring to earlier. He says there's two sides to this. One is the cultivating of an artistic taste, which isn't necessarily the creative instinct. The other is some kind of awareness, education, enablement of artists to liberate themselves from the constraints of their time.
