Is There a Common Identity Management System for Cloud Applications?

Is there any attempt to have a common identity management system or is it a fact of life that you would have different identities for each of these? Don't get too hung up on one identity being one record. You're going to run into this really commonly as developers. We're all really used to this now. If we're using one of the big cloud providers, they all now have tens, some maybe over hundreds of services that all have a single point of authentication.
