The prosecution is able to use vaugt's own words in court because of an exception to the hearsay rule, which is statement of a party opponent. Law enforcement are looking at vaugt statements as admissions of guilt. She's saying this because she wants to prevent it from happening again. But if i was a nurse or a doctor and something like this happened on my watch, i would be like, you can talk to my lawyer. I'm not saying anything about this.
