Judd Apatow always kind of runs off that James L. Brooks type of movie, which is actually what he's doing in this one. He said to Jason Segal, Seth Rogen, all these other people, the advice he would always give them was write the non-comedic version first. Come up with the dramatic version and don't worry about the jokes,. And they said... That's so interesting. When I first started screenwriting, I thought I was going to be the next Farley Brothers solo. So you were interested in comedy mainly? Absolutely.
