The Relationship Between Little a and Desire

Little a is something that falls out and is a residue or remainder from the subjectification process which I have referred to as castration. Lacan even uses this really clever. It's a deciduum like a deciduous tree. And in fact if you were to look at the graph of desire on page four of the seminar, little a would be between the big a in a circle and the little d of desire.
