There's some research that exercising outdoors a shifts you into a state of open awareness. That looks a lot like what master ed ors what happens in their brains when you ask them to shift into deep meditation. And i've also seen people with these conditions experience really heightens suffering when they first attempt to meditate, because you're basically saying, ok, mind, give me what you've got. For many people who believe there is no way to control the contents of their mind and are almost being tortured by their own thinking, they will experience profound, almost immediate relief through outdoor exercise.
