The Difference Between Acquisition and Learning

Poetry is a process of acquisition rather than learning and acquisition is like breathing it's about reading what's pleasurable. With poetry we build up what we can appreciate block by block that means we're probably not going to start with Chaucer but we might read Shakespeare before Chaucer. We have less of an effective filter when we do not feel part of the club, says Krashen.
